White, George Boyle, 1802 – 1876
Biographical notes
George Boyle White (1802-1876), surveyor and parliamentarian, was born at Bantry, Cork, Ireland. He visited Sydney in 1819 and returned in 1826. He was appointed assistant surveyor in the Surveyor-General's Department in 1827 and worked in the Hunter River district. White accompanied Thomas Mitchell on his expedition to the Barwon River, 1831-1832. In 1838 White was promoted to Surveyor and retired in 1853.
White was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seat of Northumberland and Hunter (1858-1859). [ref:ADB 6]
