Sommerlad, Ernest Lloyd, 1919 –

E. Lloyd Sommerlad (1919- ), newspaperman and parliamentarian, was born at Tenterfield, the son of Ernest Christian Sommerlad member of the NSW Legislative Council (1932-1952) and his wife Mildred. Lloyd Sommerlad was educated at Sydney Grammar School and the University of Sydney where he graduated Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Economics. Sommerlad served in the AIF between 1941 and 1945. He was General Manager of Country Press Ltd. between 1951 and 1961. Sommerlad was a member of the NSW Legislative Council from 1955 to 1967.
