Paciullo, George, 1934 –

Biographical notes

George Paciullo (1934- ), parliamentarian, was born in Sydney, the son of Italian parents. His father Sisto Paciullo had migrated from Calabria in 1926. Paciullo was educated at Homebush High School.

Paciullo was elected a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the seat of Liverpool, 1971-1989. In 1982 as Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Road Safety he was chiefly responsible for the introduction of driver random breath testing. He was Minister for Consumer Affairs (1984-1986) and Minister for Police and Emergency Services (1986-1988).
