Humphery, Frederick Thomas, 1841 – 1908
Biographical notes
Frederick Thomas Humphery (1841-1908), merchant and parliamentarian, was born near Berrima, NSW, son of Thomas Bott and Mary Ann Humphery. Educated privately Humphery began working in commerce at the age of thirteen. He was a commercial agent and receiver who became a director of a number of public companies and acquired significant rural landholdings in NSW and QLD.
He married firstly in 1875 to Helena Annie, daughter of Rev. George King, and secondly to Lucy Alice Matilda, daughter of W.J. King.
Humphery was elected a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seat of Shoalhaven (1882-1887) and was appointed a member of the NSW Legislative Council (1887-1908).[ref:ADB 4]
