Crawford, Geoffrey Robertson, 1916 – 1998

Biographical notes

Geoffrey Robertson Crawford (1916-1998), farmer and parliamentarian, was born at Inverell the son of Frank and Janet Crawford. He was educated at the state secondary school and worked on his father's farm until 1938. He served in the second AIF from 1940 to 1945 and was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1944. On his return from the war he bought a sheep and cattle property. Crawford was elected a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seat of Barwon (1950-1976) and was Minister for Agriculture from 1968 to 1975.
