Biographical notes
Marshall Burdekin (1837-1886), barrister and parliamentarian, was educated at W. T. Cape's School at Darlinghurst and the University of Sydney where he graduated Master of Arts (1859). He was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1859 and the Queensland Bar in 1861.
Marshall Burdekin was elected a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seats of Liverpool Plains (1863-1864), Williams (1864-1866) and East Sydney (1867-1869). He was Colonial Treasurer for a short time in January 1866. From 1869 onward he lived mostly abroad.
