Biographical notes

Francis Stewart Boyce (1872-1940), barrister, judge and parliamentarian, was born at Rockley, NSW, son of Rev. Francis Bertie Boyce and his wife Caroline. He was educated at The King's School, Parramatta, Sydney Grammar School, Rugby School, England and the University of Sydney where he graduated Bachelor of Arts (1893) and Bachelor of Laws (1896). He was admitted to the NSW Bar in February 1897 and was appointed a King's Counsel in 1924.

Boyce was appointed to the NSW Legislative Council in 1923. Between 1924 and 1925 Boyce was an honorary minister in the Fuller Government and Attorney General from 1927 to 1930. He resigned from the parliament in 1932 and was appointed to the Supreme Court bench in 1932.
